  33.   I'm actually posting this for a friend that doesnt have net access.  But
  34. anyway...  
  35.   He has a MFJ model MFJ-1224 RTTY interface.. He has the 1224<-->computer
  36. taken care of, what he's having problems with is 1224 to his radio.....
  37. Which is a Icom Ic-735... (BTW, he has no manual for the 1224)..

  57. There are a couple of commercial solutions, Kantronics has one, and
  58. TAPR has a data gathering unit that will work with any TNC. These
  59. are both dependent on packet radio and report in near real time
  60. their readings. If you have the channels you can dedicate to the
  61. task, you can use simpler telemetry, a voltage to frequency converter
  62. can be used to transmit an analog reading continously. What might be
  63. best, however, is a single board computer that can store readings
  64. and report them in a batch when you interrogate it via packet radio.
  65. That way you can have a bunch of sensor stations all sharing a
  66. single frequency.

  81.   Just got my call in the mail about 2 weeks ago,  and I'm interested in
  82. getting into packet.. Radio wise I've got a HTX-202.   Main question is can
  83. someone point me towards an inexpensive way to get a taste of packet.  a TNC
  84. kit or used tnc..  Would like for it to be external and small.. Getting a Hp
  85. 100lx palmtop I'd like to be able to connect it to..

  109. Actually, I have a good bit of this complete. It's in V/B, but it was written
  110. around an MFJ 1278. If I ever get time to finish it and make it a little more
  111. general, I will make it available somehow. Finding the time is a real problem
  112. though :( (I'm typing this from the plant on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon,
  113. while waiting for a VMS upgrade to complete)

  115. It's kind of neat though, It does the basic connect / disconnect stuff now, with
  116. buttons. Even has a drop-down for connect that can do an MH to the TNC!
  117. It uses a package called Modemware to manage the comm port I/O. It would
  118. be tough without that.
